Job Hunting: Planning Your Interview

Going to an interview is an important process of job hunting. Jobs can be many, but only one successful applicant would be chosen that fit the employer’s requirements.

Do your homework.   Learn as much as you can about the company you will applying for.  What are the company’ s positive points, competitors and  know about their main products or services. Most of the companies today have their own website, take time to browse it and explore pertinent data about them.   Know someone who can give you some personal knowledge about the company.

Get organized with your employment documents.  Bring extra copy of resume or curriculum vitae (CV) and get ready of all the factual information about yourself.   If you are applying as an artist or designer, make sure you have your samples of your work.

Getting ready of yourself.  A job interview is a business meeting, always be neat and wear appropriate clothes that would give a good impression of your prospective employer.

Review your background interests and goals as they relate to the employer’s needs.   Questions  can be tricky  and can be strike from anywhere during the interview.   Take a look of your academic records regarding your favorite subjects, and why you liked them best as well as extracurricular activities you participated in.

Know the exact nature of the work you did in the past, which elements in your job you liked best and least.  Have a ready answer for your reasons for leaving your previous jobs.  There can be many questions that can be asked, knowing yourself is the first and foremost important you have with you.

Lastly, make sure you have checked in advance the exact location of the company so as not to be late for the interview.
