Things to Do During Holiday Vacation

Holiday vacation is the most awaited time of the year.  Spend it wisely and make the best out of it.

After a year of stressing hectic schedules , holiday vacation is the most awaited time of the year.  Here are some things you can do while on vacation :

Major house cleaning.  Cleaning can be a tiring task but it can be done joyfully with the family.  It would be better if we  involve the children in cleaning their own stuff.   Why don't you give your house a different look? You may re-arrange the  sofa or  furnitures and do some repainting.  Decluttering is also a part of the major cleaning by  segregating things for disposal like old clothes, outdated magazines, stuff toys collections since childhood and many others that are just consuming space inside the house.  Sometimes it is hard to let go of some things that we have been keeping for years,  but  later on we would realize that it's worth letting go.

It feels good to start the year with a fresh and cleaner house.

Fix personal documents.  Secure personal documents and ensure that they are properly filed.  Dispose unnecessary papers like old receipts, used  lottery tickets, old utility billings, outdated books and magazines.

Bond with family members.   If budget permits, a holiday trip would be a wonderful gift to all family members.  A new environment  can  lift one's spirit and would generate more energy.  So while on vacation, take the opportunity to spend the time together.
Holiday vacation.
In the contrary, if we cannot afford to take a trip  spend the time at home and do activities together which seldom done during the year.  Watch movies together, go into sports, cook a meal or dessert that you always wish to eat but  can't do because you are always on the go and only settle for quick foods.

Reunite  with old friends and relatives.   Reunions are common during holidays.  With the emerging online social networks, there is no better way in  connecting with friends and relatives than personal visit or  simple gatherings.  See each other's  smile, warm hugs, share  the laughter  through personal conversations.   Sharing a cup of coffee with a  friend would be of greater value than chatting online.

Reflect and plan for next year.  There is no turning back with the past, whether we like it or not, time is changing and we have to move on to  next year.  There are things to be done, to improve, to cut-down on consumption and many others.   Check financial status,  have we saved enough or did we overspend this year? Did we used our credit card wisely?  List down long term goal for things to buy.  May it be a new house, car, computer, piano or other major things we need.  Cut down small expenditures to achieve long term plans.
